Bald cypress is slightly pyramidal when young and matures with short horizontal pendulous branches into a tall and stately tree. A member of one of five genera of deciduous conifers worldwide, bald cypress should be used as a specimen or in groups in average to moist soils. Short bright green foliage, arranged spirally, emerges in spring, maturing to a soft green in summer Foliage matures to brown orange in fall and bark is reddish and slightly peeling.
