American fringe tree is a large shrub with a spreading, open habit native to moist woodlands and stream banks in limestone soils. In June, fragrant, delicate white panicles appear giving way to dark olive like fruits which a source of food for a variety of birds. American fringe tree is Dioecious (separate male and female plants).
