Acer rubrum 'Redpointe' Maple
Acer rubrum ‘Redpointe’ is fast becoming more popular than traditional maple favorites. Its quick and relatively care-free growth habits are as endearing as is its spectacular fall color display. Upright with a broadly pyramidal shape that requires little pruning, ‘Redpointe’ will reach 40’ with a 20’ spread. Narrower than many maples, it makes a nice addition to more compact landscapes. A deciduous tree undeterred by cold snaps and at home in intermountain conditions, this cultivar of the Acer rubrum and the Acer x fremanii does well in Sunset Western Garden zones 1-9 and 14-17. Its deeply lobed leaves are deep green from spring to fall when they turn a brilliant red shade.
