Lobelia cardinalis Cardinal Flower

Cardinal flower offers brilliant tubular scarlet flowers in summer. It thrives in shade, but tolerates sun if wet. It needs consistent moisture to provide a long bloom period which will attract hummingbirds and butterflies. This Lobelia forms tufts of rich green foliage. Although relatively short-lived, it will increase by offsets of the declining crown and by self seeding.
