Carex muskingumensis Palm Sedge

Palm sedge has vivid bright green leaves arranged in a whirled pattern. Named after Ohio's Muskingum River, this native Carex is at home in moist and wet soils.

Carex, otherwise known as sedge, is a large genus of perennial grass like plants that find a home in almost every exposure and soil type. Native and horticultural selections are invaluable garden plants and deserve wider use in masses, in drifts, and as a ground cover. Carex is also a fine choice in pots and urns. Use as you would Liriope, Ajuga, or ivy. Kelly Nursery offers sedges for a wide variety of cultural conditions and uses. Cutback Carex in spring before new growth starts.
